Vocalist John Minnock sings with a flavor sprinkled by the shaker of Mark Murphy or Kurt Elling with his team of Carlos Mena/b, Pablo Eluchans/dr Henriue Haneine/key-p and guest all star Dave Liebman on tenor or soprano sax and wooden flute. Minnock gives a bohemian post bop feel with Liebman on the tenor during a flexible “If I Could Turn Back Time” as well as Liebman switching to flue on “Herring Cove”. Minnock is soulful when Haneine hits the keyboards on the upbeat “Unconditional” and is dramatic as Haneine hits the ivories during “After All These Years”, with Minnock’s vibrato filling the room. He does an intimate and personal duet with Deborah Lippmann for “Now There’s You”, which each lyric dripping off his sleeve. You know where you stand with this guy.
