Brian Eno-Karl Hyde: High Life

Here is the second entry of the Eno/Hyde collaboration. This one is a bit more assertive than the earlier one, with lots more electronic percussion bouncing around the ears. There is one tune, “Cells and Bells” which hearkens back to the ambient sounds of Another Green World as Eno’s deadpan voice melds to acoustic wallpaper. Otherwise, you’ve got some funky chunky guitar sounds on “DBF” as well as ethereal voices jamming to the reggae vibe of “Time To Waste It.”Other tunes like “Return” and “Lilac” are rhythmic workouts that feel like sessions from an early Talking Heads album. A bit of a hodge podge and less consistent than Someday World, but still enjoyable for Eno fans.
