Irresistible grooves permeate standards like the cheerful “People Make the World Go Round” and the Iberian “Concierto De Aranjuez” and a bit of bop is injected into the Jamaican anthem “The Hardy They Come.” Some modern R&B is provided when Caterina Zapponi brings in the ballad “The River Rolls On” and a bit of Detroit comes in with a take of “What’s Going On.” George Benson, Ramsey Lewis and Joe Sample make cameos on the lighthearted “Love Notes” and a handful of concert tracks will make you feel you’re in a sweaty club downtown.
