Michael Ammann: Work 2010/11

Subtitled “Manipulated Instant Auditives,” this is a collection of pieces ranging from 3-6 minutes of “acoustic art.” What that means is that Michael Ammann uses his voice in various phonetic and electronic permutation in the attempt to mix time and sound into an organic whole. Digital filtering, spacing and various software uses are played with, with the results mixing Eno-like ambience with Kraftwerk inspired musings.

There are various buzzes, bleeps and blurps along with sounds akin to skipping record needles and dental drills, creating an almost visceral reaction. I’m not sure if this is more musical/art than scientific, but it is original and consistent.
