A 20+ minute “Chai Variations” is the centerpiece and it is a score of complex and intricate pieces, while “Secret and Glass Gardens” and “Dream Dances” are under ten minute opuses that are sophisticated, harmonically intellectual and digitally daring. A sixteen minute “Spontaneous D-Combustion” might require MS. Ernst to soak her fingers in Epsom Salts for a few hours with its challenging themes. Concentration required!
