An interesting concept: wordless vocals, sometimes multitracked, backed by keyboards and or guitar. The title track has lots of Serpa’s voice overdubbed in almost a percussive manner, while the rest is fairly Spartan. Greg Osby’s soprano guests on “Choro,” Pete Rende adds a “Prophet” keyboard on “Caminho” and Leo Genovese brings lots of toys like bombo leguero and kosikas to pieces such as “Nuvem” and “Rios,” but for the most part its ethereal Brazilian music that is almost subliminal. South American ambience?
