Brad Whiteley sets two distinct moods on this album with Andrew Lim/g, Daniel Foose/g and Kenneth Slaters/dr. One has him in a grooving B3 Hammond atmosphere, shuffling a beat on”Winsome Excursion,” boogalooing to “Bass Instincts” or bluesing the mood on “Brooklyn Hustle.” The other motife is an acoustic piano delivering lyricism on “Erika’s Song” or deft playfulness as on “No Regrets.” The rhythm team is flexible in both environs, with Lim’s guitar filling in with some tasty solos throughout and Erika Lloyd bringing in some vocals on “Suite: Contemplation.” Impressively wide ranging material here in the mainstream camp.
