FOXY! Jazzedelics: Jazzedelics

Here’s a genre that hasn’t been done yet-the Psychedelic Psongbook of the Psixties. Consisting of Doug Perkins/g, Tony Jones/voc-perc, Chris Smith/key, Adam Cohen/b and David Anderson/dr, the Jazzedelics take tunes from the days of black light posters and put a funky jazz groove in them. With a guitarist as rabid as Perkins, tunes by Jimi Hendrix are in abundance, with a burning “Fire” and Mose Allisony “Up From The Skies” definite crowd  pleasers. Anderson gets to show his Watts chops on “Paint it Black” and a finger snapping take of “Sunshine of Your Love” is as loose the neck of Ginger Baker’s ostriches. Jones’ voice is blue eyed soul rich, with him sounding just right on “We Gotta Get Out of This  Place.” Put some sunshine into your Superman and check these SoCal gents out.
