This cd/dvd consists of compositions by Joseph Klein, in the style of post modern classical, or avant garde jazz, depending on which circles you care to associate with. The cd and dvd include completely different material, ranging from solos for bass flute, glass harmonica, bass sax, guitar, piano to duets on guitar, poetry with computer, percussion pieces and soprano sax and chamber orchestra. Klein conducts the Nova Ensemble Orchestra, and also takes over the piano here and there, while the solo pieces are mix of seeming improvisation or sophisticated and cerebral writings. As with most things avant garde, the visual tends to help, while the acoustic leans toward ambient at times. Phillip Glass, anyone?
