David Wiatrolik take you back in time and then back up to the moment again with his original tunes that mix pre-swing Depression era sounds with modern day themes. He has a Hot Club of France sense of delivery, as he teams up with Nick Spreigl/dr, Jon Gray/tp and Matt Smiley-Myles Sloniker/b on these nine tracks. His cheerful vocals and stylings on material such as “Burn Out, Don’t Rust Out” and “Interstate” are reminiscent of Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks, with shuffling guitar rhythms driving the music along. Cabaret atmospheres are contributed by Gray’s vintage trumpet sounds, whle Cody Henry brings along some vaudeville atmosphere on “Honey Do List” with his trombone. Restless rhythms chase Wiatrolik with Vi Wickam’s violin on the melodramatic “Three Shots of Whiskey” with themes and sounds adding to the two beat atmosphere. Step right up and step right in!
