Lead by pianist Adam Kromelow, this trio, with Raviv Markovitz/b and Jason Burger/dr plays post modern jazz with a collection of originals and a few covers. Kromelow’s writing and performing style is a bit elliptical and edgy, going in 2-3 directions in each tune. His cover of The Beatles’ “Across the Universe” plays the cards close to the chest, while Peter Gabriel’s “Mercy Street” mixes melody and aggression. The interplay between all three gents sometimes sounds like a Bad Plus Lite, so you‘ve got to decide if that’s what you want out of your trios.
