Don Cornelius may no longer be with us, but this release which was produced by Allen Toussaint sure would have made the master emcee happy. The band consists of Jeffrey Alexander/dr, Jason Mingledorff/sax, Marc Pero/b, Joh Gros/key-v and June Yamagishi/g and they all share in the composing of these tunes that make you feel like you’re at an Earth Wind and Fire show in the soulful 70s. “Do U Want It” could have been a funk anthem by Sly Stone, while the rest of the material isn’t too far behind. Lots of high stepping back beats, crisp horn accents and ooga-wacka guitars. Anyone got some extra Afro Sheen?!? Git down!!!
