Playing flute and sax, Alex Cole teams up with guitarist Carl Michel to form a dreamy and impressionistic album with the clever combination of harp (Elaine Barber), pedal steel (Bob Hoffnar), bass (James Suter) and vibes (Carolyn Trobridge). Without a drummer, the tunes float like cirrus clouds, easily breezing forward. Coke and Suter create some unison lines on the melodic “The Seeker” while his flute teams with Barber’s harp for some gloriously abstract and pastel’d “Aquarium”, “Sketchy” and “Let’s Go To The Park”. Barber bounces around the strings on the delicate”440” and is bluesy with Michel on “Situation”, with the whole team its most frisky on the intuitive “Suikinkutsu 2”. Sonic breezes.
