Guitarist Simon Angell joins forces with drummer Tommy Crane to create an album that is part Eno-ish ambient and part metallic rock. Angell uses his six strings like a paintbrush, creating effects on the driving “Swingjugend” as well as synthscapes on dreamy pastiches like “Yellow Diamond”, the floating “2000 Decades” and the floating “Himalayayn Dial-Up”. Crane forms electronic pulses on “Twin Machines” and hits hard with a mix of beats and voices on “Hesa Fredrik” and the metal is thunderous and jarring on “Honguedo”, while a couple of “SALT” pieces form acoustic drapery. Machine musicals.
