Here’s a reason to have hope in the future, a pair of bands fromed from the CCJA put out an impressive collection of original material that shows impressive sounds, melody and a look to both the past and future.
Group “GIZ” is an octet that gets pretty funky on “Outer Space” and ”Tai Chi” with a rhythm section that has a ncie steady backbeat. Kyle Bollacer’s vocals on “I Won’t Be Your Man” need a bit seasoning, but it’s hard to have paid your dues when your parents pay your insurance. The Group “Gunn” is a bit more mainstream with some lithe bop sounds on “Pop” and One Sunset” as Mark Clifford’s vibes keeps the music sounding hip and exciting. Daryl Gott’s alto has a nice warm sound as well, and the charts are tricky enough to keep your interest without sounding clinical. Good show!
