Bassist and singer Kristin Korb comes up with the brilliant idea of jazzing up the songbook from the 1980s rock band The Eurythmics. Joined by Magnus Hjorth/p, Snorre Kirk/dr, Mathias Heise/hrm, Karl-Martin Almquist/ts, Steen Nikolaj Hansen/tb and Yohan Ramon/perc, Korb brings a new flavor to the Lennox/Stewart pen (along with a Neil Young and Jackie DeShannon cover) for a wide ranging and colorful session. Lennox actually recorded “Put A L ittle Love In Your Heart”, with the version here sounding like something from a Les McCann session, boogalooing fast and furiously, while dashes of Basie boogie on “Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves”. Heise’s chromatic harmonica brings a Brazilian breeze to “There Must Be AN Angel Again” with Almquist bluesy on a seductive “Sweet Dreams” and Hansen’s trombone plunging deeply on a Killer Joe-ish “We Two Are One”. A fun one!
