Playing tenor sax and a “processed” sax, Dann ZIn brings together heavy hitters Rachel Z/p, Jeff Denson/b-voc, Omar Hakim/dr and Brian Rice for a collection of rich originals. I assume the sax gets processed on the echoey “East Bay Punk” while his “regular” tone is bold around the pretty piano and bowed bass on ”Prayer Again”. Hakim digs in on a serious post bopper “Yarak” with the leader getting serious on “The Sound Of Ice Melting” and bluesy on the ballad “Pros and Cons”. The team swings and swirls on “A Revolution of One’ and dreams around Rice’s percussion on “Streams of Dreams”. Muscular music.
