Vocalist Rebecca Kilgore gives a tribute to the magic pen of Dave Frishberg on this recent release. She mixes and matches a string section wit ha core team of Randy Porter/p, Tom Wakeling/b, Todd Strait/dr, Dan Barrett-John Moak/tb, Tim Jensen/wwinds and Dick Titterington/tp-fh. With the string, she’s a bit poppish on “A Little Taste”, lush on “Heart’s Desire” and cozy on “Eastwood Lane”. Her voice is reminiscent of Annie Ross on the cozy “Our Love Rolls On” and the samba’d “Telephone Song”, and is an absolute hoot on “Brenda Starr”. She wants to be more than a sideman!
