The world of Snarky Puppy is shown here with bassist Michael League and fellow whelp Bill Laurance on piano creating a series of rich duets with a dash of Adriatic flavors. League brings the oud into the mood, adding Byzantine ideas to the rich “Katerina” and monastery-like “Stonemaker” with some folksy Mediterranean clip clop on “Clay”. Laurance forms deep monastic meditations on”Iki Keklik Bir Kayada” and some soulful gospel cadences on “How Does It Feel” while bringing a funky steip into “Yours” and a stained glass reflection to “you”. Never Mediterranean I didn’t like.
