Based in LA, Indian born guitarist Pritesh Walia delivers a trio album with Chris Worden/b and Gen Yoshimura/dr that gives hints of Larry Coryell and John Scofield. He’s got a rich tone to his strings, and even adds an African lilt to his lines as on “Hopetown” while he gives a bouncy bop over the brushes on “Brief”. Worden lays down a deep feel of funk on “Low Talks” and supports Walias soft strums for “Staying Home” with aplomb. Most of the tunes have a lyrical feel, but Walia ends in a flourish, rocking out hard on “Finishing Up” after giving gentle pickings on “Colors”. Prismatic strings.
