Singing and playing piano, Paula Maya brings a strong Brazilian breeze to this album with Erick Vieira-Nema Antunes-Sizao Machado/b, Fernando Moneiro/eg, Humberto Mirabeill/ag, MonicaAila/fl, Teo Lima/dr, Andre Siqueira/perc and Tamlia Nikazm/voc. The tunes can range from a popish “Agua Sagrada” and pretty “Hemnja” with catchy choruses, or some earthy grooves with Monteiro’s guitar on “A Beleza” or the dramatic “Rosalie”. There are some nice tropical ideas as on the calypso’d “Muhler” while Maya gets sassy on the percussive title tune”. A rich mix of vintage and modern ideas on the equator.
