A meeting of minds and souls takes place with the duo of Brad Whiteley/org and Austin Walker/dr joining musical forces with Daniel Carter/wwinds-tp-p, William Parker/b-reeds-tp, Charlie Apicella/dr-perc and Juma Sultan/perc . There is a surfeit of various traditional reed, string and percussive instruments included here, including thins like Tibetan singing bowls, the ngoni and various shakers. Carter and Parker supply the various horns which guide lilting pulses like the African-moded “An Invocation…” while Carter’s flute hovering over the rumble of “With Ones Elders”. Traditional double reeds team with trumpet on ”Il Nostro Sogno” and create a dreamy atmosphere over the piano on the mysterious “Cascading Waves of Change”. The album is more a tapestry of pulses and moody tones, in almost liturgical or meditative style, like the sounds you’d expect to hear on a sunset in the Sahel desert. Music for nomads.
