What if Weather Report had a female vocalist? Well, that question gets answered on this album of fusioners included WR’s own Peter Erskine/dr, joined with Eythor Gunnarsson/key, Matthew Garrison/b, Einar Scheving/perd-dr, Sygtryggur Baldursson/perc/dr, Gudmundur Petrusson/g, Phil Doyle-Joel Paalsson/sax, Ari Bragi Karason/tp, Thoreifur Gaukur Davidsso/harm, and singers Ragga, Disa and Egill Olafsson, all under the leadership of keyboardist Jack Magnet.
The deep pocket of electronic keyboards and guitar work is held together by Garrison’s slithery bass, with some emotive voice on “ Wild Card” , the moody and tropical “Space Pasadena” , and the soulful and dramatic “Ruptures”. Some preaching from the pulpit is heard on “React!” with Erskine and Garrison digging in deep, while Karason hits the ozone layer on the growling “Extrapolation”.
