Trombonist Ryan Keberle bops hard with a sax heavy team of Patrick Cornelius/ss-as-bcl-fl, Diego Rivera/ts, Michael Dease/bars along with Alex N orris/tp, Art H irahara/p, Boris Kozlov/b and Rudy Royston. The addition of the baritone sax works marvelously here, as it leads the charge through the pulsating “To Be Or Not To Be” and gets glorious on the clear “When I’m Away”, going into a rich mood for “Despite The Dream”. Keberle himself is a charmer, giving wanderlust around Cornelius’ flute on the somber “All Ears” and veering around Kozlov and Hirahara during “Edu”. The charts with the horns can be quite majestic, going Coplandeque for Norris’ horn on “Fooled and Pushed Apart” and creating thoughtful surrounds to coax out Hirahara on “Stillness Withing”.
