Bria Skonberg: What It  Means

During her career, trumpet and vocalist Bria Skonberg has taken many musical routes and side bars, but she continues to return to her first love, New Orleans styled jazz, and she still sounds best at it. Her, she sticks to the Crescent City song book using locals like Herlin Riley/dr, Grayson Brockamp/b alongside Chris  Pattishall/p, Don Vappie/g-banj, Aurora Nealand/ss, Ben Jaffe/souse, Rex Gregory/ts-bcl and Gabrielle Cavassa/voc in a wondrous mix and match fashion.

With her trumpet, she plunges deeper than Beyonce’s neckline on the honky tonker turned swinger “Comes Love” while sings in clear and cozy style on “Sweet Pea” and a relaxing title tune. Her Harmon mute and voice are both sensuous on “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy” while she snaps around the deep brass on “Elbow Bump”. The reeds are deep while she growls over “Petit Fleur” and she boogaloos on a hoot of a read of “The Beat Goes On”. She’s hitting LA in July, and I’m already in line!
