Bill Banfield’s Jazz Urbane: Take Time To  Listen

Guitarist Bill Banfield’s album title is apropos for today’s generation, as a brand new research poll showed that most people today spend no time actually sitting and listening to an album, as previous generations had. Playing acoustic guitar like a combination of John Renbourn’s folk Earl Klugh’s lyricism and Stefan Grossman’s blues, Banfield mixes standards and originals in an exquisitely intimate and classy release.

Banfield has a relaxed yet thoughtful approach to Boomer hits like “You’ve Got A Friend” and “Your Song” with jazz associated themes like “Summertime” and  “Someday My Prince” have a textured depth. “Autumn Leaves” is shaded well, and earth tones are given on “Pass Me The Bl ues”. As timeless and classy as jeans and Bass Weejuns.
