The overall mood is festive and joyous, with some breathy tenor work by Francel on “Quadro Samba” and the warm “Morello Beach” while his clarinet is rich on “Caipirinha”. The most alluring part of this charmer is that the pieces like “Morello Beach” and “Rio Sunrise” have the vintage and timeless feel of Jobim and Gilberto, but are as fresh and new as a morning sunrise.
