I’m just a sucker for the duo combo of trombonist/vocalist Natalie Cressman and guitarist Ian Faquini! All they do is deliver short and concise Brazilian pieces in a gloriously understated manner, and it simply proves the adage that “less is more”. Ok, so, yes, they also brought in guitarist/vocalist Guinga for a number of tracks, but three is not a crowd here, as Guinga simply adds guitar to graceful “ Ellingonia’ and adds folksy charm when he sings on “Contracicao” and “Lavagem de Conceicao”. After that, there are gentle strums and brass for “Aria de Opereta”, delicate joys for “Por Tras de Bras de Pina” andsoft fragrances for “Deliro Carioca”. Soft sips of a cool drink on a warm evening.
