Sleek and muscular smooth jazz is delivered by Reza Kan, playing both electric and acoustic guitar, with a mix and match team of masters including Jeff Lorber/key, Jimmy Haslip/b, Gary Novak/dr, Mark Egan/b and David Mann/key-dr-fl-ts. Khan’s acoustic nylons run well on the pretty “Falcon” with Lorber getting some leg work. Egan creates an R&Bish Bahia Mama” with the sweet voice of Jennifer Griimm, and some hip electric guitar work by Nils adds soul to Look at the “Bright Side”. Most of the drumming is programmed by Mann, giving a synthy feel to the foundation, but it mostly works, as on “Catalina’s Dream” with keyboardist Philippe Saisse”, while Bob James’ piano gives a Steely Dan feel to “Language of Love”. Accessible strings.
