Because they never had a “ hit song” in America, the band Wishbone Ash never really became a household name. However, over the decades, their albums from the 1970s like Argus, Pilgrimage and Wishbone Four have over the years built up a loyal fan base, standing the test of time.
This 1976 concert finds the original band of Andy Powell/g-voc, Martin Turner/b-voc, Laurie Wisefield/g-voc and Steve Upton/dr still together with their unique sound of two lead guitars sounding both fresh and exciting. Most of the material, justifiably so, is from their classic Argus and includes the majestic “The King Will Come” , the rollicking “Time Was” and medieval “Warrior”. You also get some nice jamming on “Bad Weather Blues” “Blowin’ Free” and “Jail Bait”. This album captures the band in it’s best environment, which was in concert, with the sparks flying in all directions. The band is still held together by Andy Powell, and is still is exciting now as then, even more so, in comparison to the sterile sounds of today’s “rebels”.
