Guitarist Rotem Sivan teams up with Hamish Smith/b, Miguel Russell/dr, Sami Stevens/voc and Luke Krafka/whistle for a mix of creative originals and stylized standards. Of the latter, his acostic strings caress a gentle read of The Beatles’ “Blackbird” while he bops and shuffles through a fingerpopping take of “Mack The Knife”. Stevens’ dreamy voice floats around the sweet strings of “The Tree-For Hilde” and the impressionistic “West Virginia Disaster”. Smith does some nice work on a pastoral “Anneleen” , with the team rocking out a bit on “Lore Luv”. Post bop pastels.
