Bianca Rossini: Apaixonada

With one foot in the tradition and the other in modern Brazil, Bianca Rossini brings fresh ideas to the timeless tones of Bossa Nova with her latest album of originals. The ten pieces include a mix/match team of Flavio Medeiros-Yuko Tamura-Fernando Leitzke-Peter Roberts/p-k, Peter Roberts-Cassio Duarte-Rogerio Boccato-Elbeton Paixao/dr, Sezin Turkmenog-Jackson Silva-Peter Roberts-Sezin Turkmenoglu/b, Reinhold Schwarzwald-Luiz Alves-Levy Silva-Leonardo Rochadel/horns and Glauber Seixas/g, all able to create moods ranging from classic sounding sambas like the joyful “Meu Coracao Faz Tum Tum” and sensuous “Sempre Acaba No Barzinho” to the upbeat and rockish “Sei La Sei”.

Rossini herself comes across as an actress knowing her part for each role, festive with the horns on the celebrative “Menina Que Reza” and carrying a torch with Tamura’s piano and Roberts’ strings during the aria of  “Pe No Chao”. She reclines on Medeiros’ piano on the lush “Luiza” and is as breezy as a summer wind Seixas’ chiming chords of “Maringa”. Each song has Rossini oozing out optimism and warmth, like a froth overflowing from a root beer float, sweet and bubbly. Rossini makes the tried and true sound ultra modern. Check this one out, coming November 15.
