Pianist and composer Bernie Senensky brings in the muscular team of tenor sax titan Eric Alexander and a studio team of Kieran Overs/b and Joe Farnsworth/dr and gig unit of Morgan Childs/dr and Dave Young/b. The studio band stretches out a pre-swing standard into silly putty on two takes of “Alexander’s Realtime Band” with Alexander bopping till he drops. Farnsworth is snappy on “Make Believer” and Senensky leads a wild white knuckler ride on “Stand Pat”. In concert, Senensky gives a glorious intro to “Speak Low” before Yong and Childs stretch out, and Young gives a workshop while digging in deep on “Blues For E.J.”. Biceps for the blues.
