Guitarist Silvan Joray forms a trio with Nadav Erlich/b and Jeff Ballard/dr for eleven originals. Joray never overplays a piece, keeping things simple as on tasty pieces like “Kokodrillo” or the folksy “At Long Last Love”. One hears a dash of Mark Knopfler in both tone and economy as on the pretty and spacious “Subterfuge” and cool toned title piece. Ballard keeps things bouncy on “Kurtish” and brushes along for “ Very Sweet Stuff, But Nice” as Ehrlich gives a soulful atmosphere to “The Liar”. An underplayed hand.
