For her first new album in a decade, Toronto-based Shakura S’Aida shows a wide range of styles on this album co-produced with Donna Grantis, Keb’Mo and Roger Costa. The songs range from swampy stompers like the title tune, a funky R&Ber “Glad For Today”, a homespun back porch acoustic “(Taste Like) Honey” and even some headbanging metal on “Ain’t Got Nothin’”. She shows a pretty style for “Takin’ It To The Streets” and is rich and folky for Neil Young’s “ Heart Of Gold”. The waterfront is covered.
