Playing bass, Ciara Moser puts together an ambitious band and concept album with a wide range of support. The core teammate is Lumanyano MZI, playing drums, helping the production and adding spoken voice and vocals. There is a team of vocalists in Aditi Malhotra, Nishant Shekar, Shivaraj Naraj and Masa Vujadinovic while a mix and match team of percussionists, guitars, saxes and piano/keyboards rollicks and roles.
There are a few moments of instrumentals, such as the soulful “Developing Senses” featuring Moser digging in with Salim Charvet’s alto sax”. Most of the time, you get a things like a mix of hip hopping beats and Indian konakol vocal percussion on the fusioned “Memory”. Some gritty sax and keyboards rumble with the vocals on “ Sixth Sense” while some free form poetry and frisky instrumentation get bohemian on the frisky “Different Ability”.
Moser reaches far here, and mostly grabs for what she is stretching out for. Any gigs coming up?
