Pete McCann creates a wide swath of colors with his guitars with a team of Steve Wilson/ss-as, Henry Hey/p-key, Matt Pavolk/b and Mark Ferber/dr on this collection of originals. His guitar can be as cool as a cucumber with post bopping altoist Wilson on the sleek “Without Question” while rocking with some Hendrixy tones on “Conspiracy Theory”. The tones are tender on a reflective “I Can Remember” and “Lost City” while nifty around Ferber’s brushes on the bopper “Lovely Thing”. Wilson gets the spotlight with Hey on the resonant “ Blues For O. M.” and the team is warm on the dramatic “Erase The Hate”, going exotic for the subtle pulsation of “Trifecta”. Soulful strings.
