Cellist Peggy Lee puts together a team that veers between free and loose improvs and thoughtful constructions. With Brad Turner/tp-ct-fh, Jon Bentley/ts, Jeremy B erkman/tb, Ron Samworth/g, Tony Wilson/g, Andre Lachance/b and Dylan Van Der Schyff/dr, the team blends rich horns on a somber “Justic/Honour? With some ominous bowing to a lovely panorama of “ A Giving Way”. Berkman’s trombone is elegiac with Wilson on “Walk Over Walk” and the team is folksy on “Whispering Pines”. There, there are a handful of fragmentary scratches, mouthpiece effects,plucks and taps on the intuitive “It’s Simple” and “Pirates”. Which band shows up in concert?
