The Baseball  Project: Grand Slam Time!

An album dedicated to baseball is simply a brilliant idea, with Peter Buck/g, Scott McCaughey/g-key, Mike Mills/b, Linda Pitman/dr, and Steve Wynn/g-voc rocking through the various aspects of The National Pastime. The band has a mix of Tom Petty and a dash of punk, with even some la steel by Stephen McCarthy on “Journeyman” , and Steve Berlin bringing in his baritone sax the snarling “Erasable Man.” There’s a dash of Dylan to pieces like “Uncle Charlie”  while chunky Kinks chords rock out on “Disco Demolition” and “The All Or Nothing”. If you know the history and nuances of baseball, pieces like “Disco Demolition” and “New Oh in Town” are going to get a smile on your face. Where’s the bobble head doll?
