Enclosing his music in a book, guitarist Ryan Meagher brings together Tim Willcox/ts-ss, Andrew Jones/b, Charlie Doggett/dr and Clay GIbrson/p-key to make a soundtrack of sorts to Tina Granzo’s art work of a story.
I assume the music goes in conjunction with the progress of the story as there is a meditative guitar on Prelude to a Requiem” that leats into a soft pulse of the title tune befofr e Willcox’s tenor gets languid on “Irrevernce Between Us”. There is clean guitar lines and brushes for “Refuse, The Redeemer” and sweet interplay between Willcox’s soprano and Jones on “The Sick Robot”. Things get darker as the story and album progresses, with guitar effects and moody tones on “Natal Dream”, noir atmospheres for “The American Scream” and a Mahleresque journey that plods along for “Scorched Earth”.
