Pianist Senri Oe delivers clean and clear ideas in trio and solo format on this recent release of originals. For the trio sides, he’s with Ross Pederson/dr and Matt Clohesy/b for a romantic “Lauro De Freitas”, a kinetic “I Wanna Live With You” and a bluesy “Bamboo”. Pederson drives hard on the peppy pop pieces “Stella’s Cough” while giving a funky feel to the boogie of “Time-Bouncing Fish”. On his own, Oe is delicate on “Avec” and spacious for a Monkish “Poetic Justice” flowing gracefully on “My Glory Day”. Polished ivory.
