Representing the Bay Area’s delivery of Latin Jazz, drummer Brian Andres and his semi-big band provide a solid punch of exciting material of both vocals and instrumentals. Percussion is a major part of the discussion on room filling tunes like “de San Francisco A Tijuana”, as Henry Hung’s trumpet bounces off the ceiling on ”Soul Provider” and “Sand Castles.” A cooking take of Weather Report’s “Black Market” is a highlight, with timbales and congas creating an avalanche of sound, while Aaron Germani’s bass groove on “Off the4 Cuff” creates a mogul of sound in which to ski over. Vocals by Braulia Barrera on “San Francisco Tiene Su Proprio Son” is a delight, making this a well rounded fiesta.
