Guitarist Fareed Haque creates rich and ebullient sound on a wide range of guitars, teaming with a core of Kevin Kozol/p, Alex Austin/b, Jose Maria Piedra/pec and Greg Fundis/dr along with a series of percussive guests. The group efforts are bookened by a glowing solo guitar “Prelude”that is inviting and tender, and a passionate teaming with vocalist Ugochi Nwaogwugwu on “Finan Bois”. In between the team gets jazzy with Kozol on “Simbi”, the strings are thick on “Simbi” with the leader delivering a tasty intro before bring in in percussionist Juan Pastor on “Rara”. Even more rumbles are added by Richard Christian/tab and Paul Cotton/perc for the exciting avalanche of “Estamos Aqui” with the team taking a Caribbean turn on the earthy “Coumbite”. Upbeat beats.
