Margo Brown goes intimate on two different environments on this collection of arias. The vocalist takes on romantic ballads with either the sole accompaniment of pianist Phil Hinton, or backed by a lush orchestra for a couple of tracks. Both work well, as the harps provide drapery for “If We Were In Love” and the strings envelop the lyrics on “My Favorite Year”. The duets are the real charmer, though, as she gets passionate on “Make Someone Happy”, delicate and vulnerable during “Someone To Watch Over Me” and dainty with Hinton’s digits on “The Nearness Of You”. Brown shows a sense of drama taking on “The Summer Knows” and inviting as she draws you in on “Summer Me, Winter Me”. Well acted out roles.
