NYC based Brian Charette digs in deep playing the organ in a humming session with tenor saxist Cory Weeds, drum legend Bill Stewart and Dizzy Gillespie alumnus Ed Cherry on guitar. The tunes are all penned by the organmeister, and dig in deep as on “Polka Dot Pinup” and the humming “Highball”. Weeds’ tenor fits in like peanut butter in a jelly sandwich on “Tight Connection” and “ Vague Reply” while Cherry is draws out solos like a #2 pencil on “Good Fortune” and the title tune. Nelson keeps things interesting with his usual masterful sticks to guide through the traffic on “Unmasked” and “Upstairs”, with the album simmering on all 8 cylinders.
Charette holds live streams weekly, which you can also check out below, and there’s no drink minimum.
