Panama-born and NYC based bassist Santi Debriano puts together a fun and funky album mixing his rich solos with clever charts and solos. The team of Andreas Brachfeld/fl, TK Blue/as, Tommy Morimoto/ts, Ray Sero/bari, Emile Turner/tp, Adrian Alvarado/g, Mamiko Watanabe/p and Robby Ameen/dr.
Debriano gets down with Blue on “Basilar” and goes Spherical with Sero on the fun and quirky tribute of “Mr. Monk”. Watanabe and Brachfeld are reflective on the sublime “Till Then” with Alvarado in lyrical form on “Imaginary Guinea”. The horns are a hoot over Ameen’s groove on “Akrestra Boogaloo” and Debriano shows his wares on a lovely aria of “Portrait”. Freely formed.
