Drummer Jonathan Mills brings together an easy swinging team of Luke Weatherington/as, Patrick Arthur/g, Tyrone Jackson/p-key and Tommy Sauter/b for a collection of attractive post bopping originals. Mills has a confidence to his sticks, sauntering on the brushes with Weatherington on the light “Solecism” and upbeat on the optimistic “No Mentions, No Worries”. Arthur does an excellent job longboarding over the rhythm section’s whitewaters of “When My Mind’s Quiet” and Jackson grooves through the pulse of “Calderazzish”. The team displays cozy corners on “Wait For It” while Mills lets the team punch out the blues on “Sneak Attack”. Self-assured swing.
