BLUESERS…Billy Truitt: Abstract Truth, Ivor S K: Mississippi Bound

Blues in jeans and means…

Playing piano, Hammond, accordion and guitars, Billy Truitt sings with grit on Cajun-spiced album with Al Ek/g-harmpvoc, Chris Tofield/g, Jimmy Carpenter/bs-ts, Justin Truitt/dr, Mike Selfirt/b and a handful of guests. A mean harp is blow on the reggae’d “Salvation or Hall and Famous Places” On piano, Truitt sets a gospel   tone for “True” and the team shuffles the boogie blues for “Waymore Blues”. Brother Justin shuffles a deep one on “Hobo Flatts” and two steps around the fun “Preacher Stole My Angel”. Check all your hub caps when you leave this place!

Casual porch sitting blues are delivered by Ivor Simpson-Kennedy as he plays acoustic, electric and slide guitar on this album of original blues. The atmospheres can take you to Chicago and a gritty and plugged in “Tomorrow Night” while his Strat lurks around the corner on “Get Up.” His approach has the strings stroll on “Down The Road” and give a Derek and Dominoes feel on “Taste Your Lips”. His slide lazily works around the strings on “Kiss On My Blues” and “I Don’t Roll” while his voice has a surfer dude approach. Beach Boy with the blues
