One reliable Christmas tradition is an album by Dave Koz celebrating the season. This latest one has him playing soprano, tenor and alto saxes in a variety of Natal settings. With Al Dimeola’s keyboardist Phillipe Saisse, Koz is velvety on his own “Wrapped Up In Your Smile” while the keys are cheery on “Merry Christmas Darling”. Most jazzy is a soprano/piano take of “Greensleeves” while John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over) features bold vocals by “Rebecca Jade”. Koz’s alto is starry eyed on “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/My Favorite Things” and teams up with Rick Brahn on the fun “The Christmas Waltz”. Music as rich as egg nog.
