The threesome of guitarist Louis Beaudoin-de la Sablonniere, bassist Eric Normand and drummer Tom Jacques create delicate and reflective originals, with ambience taking over melody and improvisation. Electric guitar tones are echoey and casual on “Amis, Finalment” and veer around Normand on “Carla” with soft cirrus clouds floating on “Nous Ne Savions Pas” and the hyper mellow “L’essence”. There’s a bunch of dots and dashes on the folksy “16mm” with the entire album, if it were any more introspective, would have to take up residence in a monastery.
